B-R-E-A-K-I-N-G News! IGBOS Protesting In Ladipo Market Over Imposition of Alhaji Abibu Oladotun Oki, As Their Leader.

**Accept Him as Your Leader or Leave Lagos - Lagos Govt.
**Out of the 38 existing units in the market, the Igbo traders the controls 37 units while Alhaji Oki only control a unit.
** 99% of marketers in Ladipo are Igbo. To be fair to all, Oki should come and contest if elected he will be accepted.
**We told him that we have been in existence for over 30 years and don’t understand the meaning of Baba Oloja.

The crisis rocking the leadership of Ladipo Auto Spare Parts Market, Mushin, took a new dimension on Thursday as the
executive members of Ladipo Central Executive Auto Dealers Association and some of its members took to the streets
protesting the imposition of Alhaji Oladotun Abibu Oki as the Babaloja of the market.

LACEC and its numerous supports had on Thursday launched an attack on the Alhaji Oki led administration over what they
described as an attempt to impose his authority on them. Alhaji Oki had organised some of his loyalists to clean the environment during the weekly environmental sanitation but were attacked by the aggrieved members of the LACEC who claimed that he was
encroaching on their territory.

Addressing the protesters, President General, LACEC, Comrade Ikechukwu Animalu said that the union rejected the imposition of Alhaji Oladotun Abibu Oki as the new Babaloja of Ladipo general
market. “ Out of the 38 existing units in the market, Alhaji Oki controls only a unit.

Alhaji Habibu Oki, owns a warehouse in the market, came with a letter that they have made him the Baba Oloja of Ladipo. We told him that we have been in existence for over 30 years and don’t understand the meaning of Baba Oloja. Before we knew what was happening, the chairman of Mushin Local Council called us and informed us that they want to install a Baba Oloja. He said the existence of a Baba Oloja would not conflict with that of LACEC.

There is still an on going battle over his appointment as the new Babaloja. It was his attempt to impose his authority on us that led to the crisis that erupted on Thursday. We demand a formal election, so that the people will decide who their leader will be.

“We also appeal to the police to be fair in this controversial matter and call to order those who openly ordered us to either accept the imposition or return to our various states.”

On what led to the fight over the week, LACEC Secretary General, Pastor Steve Paul Ijioma said: “There has been controversy over the imposition of Alhaji Oki as the Babaloja. This led to several clashes and it was agreed that Alhaji Oki should restrict his authority in his unit pending when the matter is sorted out. During the environmental sanitation, he encroached on our territory and we resisted.

The protest is to pass the message across that we do not want his leadership rather a free and fair election should be conducted. It is a pity that an Area Commander could openly ask us to accept
Babaloja or return to our various states.”

Also at the protest was the royal father of the market, Chief Michael Nwosu who also said: “ 99 percent of marketers in Ladipo
are Igbo. To be fair to all, he should come and contest if elected he will be accepted.

We pay our taxes in Lagos and have every right as Nigerians
to buy and sell anywhere in the state.”

When Saturday Sun visited Alhaji Oki’s section of the market, it was littered with broken bottles and the two cars allegedly
destroyed during the fracas. He said that he was ready to dialogue with aggrieved members of LACEC to find a way forward.

“I was nominated two years ago to be installed the Babaloja of the market. LACEC through several petitions frustrated that move and the process was delayed.

However two months ago, the late Abibat Mogaji finally installed me. To pass their message across they did not attend my
installation, which was held in June 27, 2013.

How to choose the right employer?

The right choice of the employer is a complex and quite a common problem among job seekers of all ages. Everybody wants his/her professional qualities to be appreciated not only with compliments, but also with good financial reward.
It is very easy to get lost among the huge number of organizations that at first glance offer a good position and decent wage. Unfortunately, no one is insured from scammers and dishonest people. But how to choose the right employer? How to avoid mistakes if your resume has attracted the attention of several numbers of companies?
Firstly decide the criteria that the future employer must own. Select the priorities that are the most important for you: a stable salary, a wide range of duties, good conditions or location of the job.
Try to find some information about the employer in the Internet at special web-sites before the upcoming job interview. It really is a very important because you will be able to protect yourself not to lose valuable time and money.
Do not hesitate to ask questions during a job interview. A good employer is obliged to inform about the vacancy and to give comprehensive answers to all your questions. Do not be afraid to look too intrusive. It is a last chance to get to know information about the company and its directors. Ask about the wage level, responsibilities, perspectives and career growth opportunities. Some organizations provide their employees with special advantages – health insurance, compensation of mobile communication expenses etc. All these data may be useful and help you decide whether the employer is honest with respect to the announced work conditions.
It is rather important to ask about the possibility of an official employment. Of course, it is a personal choice of the job seeker, but only in the case of legal official employment you will be able to rely on the government protection and require the employer to keep all obligations of the Labour Act. In other cases, if you are cheated or you are denied social guarantees, the court and law enforcement authorities will not be able to help you.
If you decided to accept the job offer insist on signing the employment contract, which involves all working conditions: the post, the work schedule, the date of adoption, the wage level, the additional premium. Read the internal rules and documents of the company.
The good employer must know the company products well and is ready to spend costs for the researches and developments. In addition, the company is to have a 5-year plan for the successful business development. If the employer aims to the future growth, it means that the organization has a purpose and a good financial position. Such an employer guarantees the stability and a possible career growth.
The Nigerian Labour Act does not provide the fixed period for the probationary period which is commonly practised in many companies. Remember that this period should also be specified in the employment contract. Avoid employers who refuse to pay for the probationary period as there is a big risk to be unemployed and not to be paid fairly earned money.
Conscientious employers always try to improve the skills of their employees. Be sure that the organization is willing to pay for further regular education and advanced training courses. This is an important point because the law is constantly changing, new acts, regulations and rules are set and approved, and some professions are not able to work effectively. Good employers always do their best to ensure that the staff provides the success for the company.
No good building without a good foundation. Find out some information about the founder members and Board members. Try to choose the company which is being run by famous leaders. This fact may help you stay safe and you will have more opportunities to work at the firm for a long time.
If it is possible take a closer look at the work environment of the company. Positive work environment may significantly affect the further career. In good environment you will be an essential part of the company where the staff including directors will appreciate and respect your mind. Nowadays such favourable work conditions are valued more than money.

PDP crisis: Northern govs shun Jonathan

PDP crisis: Northern govs shun Jonathan
. Wammako, Nyako, Kwankwaso, Lamido hold separate talks with Obasanjo
The Abeokuta home of the former president, Olusegun Obasanjo, yesterday became another “national secretariat” of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as President Goodluck Jonathan and four northern governors met with him in separate consultations which lasted several hours.
President Jonathan, who arrived at Obasanjo’s hilltop residence in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, at about 11: 51 a.m., hurriedly went into a closed doors meeting with the former president. The meeting lasted close to three hours.
Security was tightened around the former president’s home as stern-looking, combined security operatives mounted guards at different locations in the area ahead of the president’s arrival. Newsmen were also kept outside the premises.
Jonathan, however, left Obasanjo’s residence at exactly 1:28 p.m. and headed for the private residence of his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Dr. Rueben Abati, at Asero Housing Estate in Abeokuta metropolis, to pay him a condolence visit on the death of his mother, Madam Maria Abati.
A few minutes after Jonathan’s departure from Obasanjo’s house, four governors from the North arrived at the former president’s residence and held separate meeting with him.
The governors include Aliyu Wammako of Sokoto State, Murtala Nyako of Adamawa State, Rabiu Kwankwaso of Kano and Sule Lamido of Jigawa.
The governors’ meeting which was also held behind closed doors lasted for about an hour.
Sunday Mirror gathered that one of the issues discussed during the meeting with the former president was connected with the crisis in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), especially the face-off between President Jonathan and Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi. Three of the governors – Nyako, Kwankwaso and Lamido – were last Tuesday pelted with stones when they visited Amaechi in Port Harcourt.
It was also gathered that the four northern governors, who had earlier arrived in Abeokuta a day before, deliberately avoided meeting with President Jonathan by retreating to their hotel rooms at DUSMAI Hotel within the legislative quarters in Abeokuta metropolis.
Sunday Mirror further learnt that Jonathan’s visit to Obasanjo while paying condolence visit to Dr. Abati may not be unconnected with his moves to personally reconcile with the former president.
It would be recalled that the president’s visit was coming less than 48 hours after he made a similar trip to the National Chairman of PDP, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, where he was said to have expressed sadness over the crisis rocking the PDP.
Also, the President’s visit to the former head of state was coming barely 24 hours after the ex-governor of Ogun State, Gbenga Daniel and Adamawa State Governor, Murtala Nyako, visited.
Speaking with newsmen, however, Nyako described Obasanjo as the most accomplished Nigerian whose wealth of experience must be tapped from at every crucial moment in the life of the country.
His words: “Obasanjo is the most accomplished Nigerian ever and will remain so for a very long time, and we have come to consult him on very important matters.”
Jonathan in company of top security chiefs which included the State Commissioner of Police, Ikhemefuna Okoye, Director of State Security Service (SSS), Joseph Okpu, NSCDC’s Ade Abolurin, arrived at Abati’s residence at exactly 1: 43p.m. and left at 2: 07 p.m. for what he described as condolence visit over the death of Madam Abati.
Speaking with newsmen after the 24 minutes condolence visit, the President emphasised that he decided to visit Abati in Abeokuta because he could not honour his mother’s burial last Friday owing to official engagement which kept him out of the country.
“Yesterday (Friday) when the main burial took place, I sent a team to represent me because I was in Lome. I would have been in the church service yesterday. But, of course, as the head of state, you have some international programmes; there was nothing we could do, so, we were all there,
“Of course, political families and administrative set up are just like the families we have in our homes. Reuben being my media adviser is a part of my larger family. And just like you have siblings here in this community, Reuben has siblings amongst my aides my ADC, my state chief of protocols and all others, we belong to the same family.
“So, if anything happens to any of us, it happens to all of us. And of course, we believe in our traditions, we are religious people. We love the way we live with our siblings and extended family.
“The death of Madam Maria Taiwo Abati touches all of us and we must collectively play our role. Since we were unable to be here for the church programme, we said that this morning we have to be here. We must come and greet our brothers and sisters to express our condolence and to encourage the family.
‘Those of us who are Christians; the Bible says that we are supposed to live three scores and 10. So, any number of years above three scores and 10 is a blessing. So, for her to have lived to this ripe age, her departure should be celebrated and not mourned. So, our being here is to encourage them and to reassure the family that we are together and we’ll continue to be together,” Jonathan emphasised.
On his visit to Obasanjo’s house which coincided with that of the four governors from the North, Jonathan declared that the former president is his father and would remain so.
He reiterated that it would appear as if he and the former president are quarrelling should he visit Abati without saying hello to him.
“Of course, you know that Reuben’s house and Obasanjo’s are just about 10 minutes drive to each other. It would not be proper if I’m coming to Ogun State to see Reuben who is just at Obasanjo’s backyard and I would not stop over to greet him (Obasanjo). Even if he hears that, they would think that the President and Obasanjo, probably, have some differences.
“So, I said that before coming to greet the family, let us stop over and greet Obasanjo and we did that. We stopped over there. Even our helicopters are there in the Government House, we drove down here,” Jonathan added.

2015: There will be bloody revolution in Nigeria if Jonathan wins – Ex-Biafran captain warns

jonathan1
A former Captain in the Biafran Army, Captain Leo Amadi has warned that Nigeria may experience another period of bloodshed if Goodluck Jonathan returns as president I 2015.
Amadi while speaking to newsmen in Part Hacourt yesterday affirmed that President Goodluck Jonathan was “too weak” to lead Nigeria to its promise land.
He added that what the Nigeria needed was a leader with a strong political will to deal with the elements of disintegration and economic uncertainties that are threatening the corporate existence of the country.
He said, “Jonathan is a good man. He means well for Nigeria. But Buhari is a better leader. He is not corrupt. He has the political will that is needed to tackle all the problems confronting us at this point as a nation. Buhari is the man that is capable of handling the nation at this critical moment of our lives as a country.
“I have never seen Buhari in my life. He was in the Nigerian Army while I fought for Biafra. He is a Muslim and I am a Christian. But the things he did when he was a Military ruler were amazing. For the first time as a nation we were a disciplined people and corruption was at its barest minimum. The economy was at its best and not what obtains today.
“What we need as a country is a corruption-free society. Nigeria is a very rich country. But corruption is tearing us apart and this could be attributed to bad leadership. That is why we should push for a leader who has a strong character and a strong will to rule us.
“There are strong leaders in Nigeria presently. But they are too corrupt to lead the people. This is where the likes of Buhari fit in.
“I see a bloody revolution beckoning on Nigeria if Jonathan wins the 2015 election again. The country may go into another civil war if the result of the election goes the other way. That is why Buhari should be given a second chance to rule Nigeria and rid it of corruption”, Amadi said.
Captain Leo Amadi who was in charge of a Company in the 30-month old war between the secessionist Biafra and the Nigerian Army said the only available solution to the present problems confronting the country was “a bloody revolution”. This could be likened to what obtained in Ghana under Flt Lt. Jerry Rawlings.
“Today Ghana is peaceful and many Nigerians are running there to either do business or spend their holidays. We may experience that kind of treatment here in Nigeria if we really want to be free as a people,” he added.

Seven Nigerians shot dead in S’Africa

Seven people believed to be Nigerians were shot dead at different times within the last one week in South Africa, media reports have said.

South African police spokesman, Tim Masilela, said four Nigerians were killed when a group of men opened fire on them in Benoni on the East Rand. According to reports, the four were in a Volkswagen Golf alongside one other when a car stopped in front of them.

A group of men got out of the car and opened fire, killing two of the men in the Golf instantly. A third passenger tried to run away, but collapsed and died a few metres from the scene. A fourth man died later in hospital. The fifth man in the car was not hurt.

“The motive behind the shooting is unknown. Police are still investigating,” Masilela said. Last Saturday, three Nigerians were killed in a cell phone shop in Voortrekker Street, Benoni.

They were inside the shop when five armed men entered around 6 p.m., police spokesperson Lungelo Dlamini said at the time.

The five opened fire, killing two of the customers, both 38, inside the shop, and the third man, 40, at the shop door. The gunmen fled in a green BMW. They were also believed to be Nigerians, said Dlamini.

He said the police found spent cartridges at the scene, and a licensed firearm belonging to one of the men who died. Nothing was stolen.

“The motive for the killing is still unknown but a possibility that the victims were a rival group is being investigated,” he said
